Cindy’s Creations

Monday

Unless I can get creative with hints this might be the last hint on the Booty Swap for a while.  hmmmm, does look like much of anything, does it? 😉 Trust me it is just what my partner described.

I got the poor little girraffe’s ears fixed, he looks much better.  I have the pieces traced for the lion and he is on my schedule for tomorrow. I’m nearly finished applique’ing the little quilt for the Booty Swap, so I hope to finish that tomorrow so I can get it layered and basted, not the fun part of quilting but it has to be done.

Happy quilting!

Sunday

I had a good sewing day with no injuries. 😉 Well, I guess I did injure some fat quarters but it was done with love.  I got the giraffe done and he is a cutie potootie. 😀 Well I thought I had the giraffe done, seem as though I didn’t add the details to his horns and ears. Poor baby! I’ll fix that when I’m done with this entry.

I did go through some pattern books looking for a pattern for the Holiday Booty Swap. I finally decided on a Pat Sloan pattern. Hope my swap pattern is a Pat fan. Got the backing pieced together for that, traced, cut and fused the applique’ pieces. Here is the first pic  That’s all you can see for the time being.

Have a great Monday!

My week

Had a pretty good week. I made 5 bags and I’m a little tired of making bags so yesterday I got back to what I love doing. Making quilts. One thing that motivated me to get back to making quilts was that DD sprung on me that Greg’s baby shower was Nov. 1st and she wants to use the Zoo Animal quilt as one of the decorations. HELLO I haven’t started the quilt. So Sat. I made the elephant block and I have the giraffe ready to start. KIDS!!! I don’t like him but DD does, so I guess he will stay.

I had a very pleasant surprise this week from Roz, one of the birthday giveaway winners. Isn’t this a darling little heart quilt she sent me? Thanks so much again, Roz!

I did have a little sewing excitement this week that I could have done without. I was making a bag and smoothed the fabric while the machine was sewing and I stuck a quilting pin very deep into my finger. DH immediately reached to pull the pin out and I told him not yet as I didn’t want to bleed on the bag. I had him cut the thread pull the fabric out while I held the pin into my finger, he then folded the fabric back and pulled the pin out. Just like a man, he measured to see how much of the pin was in my finger and it was over a 1/2″. Said wound bleed off and on the rest of the day and is still sore to the touch. No pics as I didn’t want to gross anyone out.

I need to get down stairs and go through my books as I still haven’t found the pattern I will use for the Holiday Booty Swap. Hopefully one will jump out at me today screaming “Use me.”

Hope everyone has a super quilt-y week!!

CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG

DANGEROUS CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG
1 coffee mug
4 Tbsp. cake flour (plain, not self-rising)
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 egg
3 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp. oil
Small splash of vanilla
3 Tbsp. chocolate chips, optional

Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork.
Add egg, mix thoroughly.
Pour in milk and oil and vanilla, mix well.
Add chips, if using.
Put mug in microwave, and cook for three minutes on 1000 watts.
Cake will rise over top of mug–do not be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little; tip onto a plate if desired.
Eat!

***And WHY is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only five minutes away from chocolate cake any time of the day or night!!!***

Be careful not to overcook–our microwave is higher than 1000 watts, and three minutes was a dab too long–dried the cakes out a little bit.  Anyway, give it a try!  And be sure to watch it the whole time it’s baking in the microwave!!!

Fabric

Look what came in the mail for Nikolas and I this week.  Not Handy Manny but Bob Builder and Penny. I think I see this fabric becoming a tote.

I’m so far behind on photos I need to get busy and take photos of the stitchery I’m working, the fabric I purchased for the backing on the Mini Booty Swap for Christmas and then just some fabric I thought I had to have. Fabric shopping is so much fun! 😀

Hope everyone is having a great day. DH is bbq-ing chicken and I’m doing potatoe salad. Well, I’m sorta doing potatoe salad, I’m opening the container and putting a spoon in it. 😉

More photos coming tomorrow.

Tuesday

I didn’t get around to going shopping for my swap partner fabric yesterday, I am going this morning after I take DD for another sonogram. DD’s doctor thinks Greg is either going to be here earlier than first thought or he is a very very big boy. I’m kinda hoping he will be here earlier, say Dec?

I’ve finished the first 2 blocks of the stitcheries and started on the third. I love them. I’m afraid I have a new addiction.     In my spare time, I am looking for another stitchery to do when I get all caught up on these. I’m leaning towards a Noah’s Ark that Lynnette Anderson has on her blog. I think it would be cute for Greg a quilt.

Have a quilty day!

Happy Monday

I know Monday’s are usually blah but I had a great day.

First I made this bag. and this is the lining.  Here is the tutorial I used to make this little bag. http://craftapple.wordpress.com/2006/02/21/the-lindie-bag-free-pattern/

Then I made three billfolds. These are so fast and fun. I had been planning to make them so I had the snaps and instead of using interfacing I used fusible fleece.

 Aren’t these too cute?

Got my next swap partner so I’m going tomorrow and look around for fabric that jumps out at me. The colors my partner requested I don’t know that I have ever shopped for so this will be an adventure to me.

Hope everyone had a great Monday and a better Tuesday!

Reading can feed your addiction

And that is a good thing. 😀

Thanks to Toni I read blogs from Google reader. Being able to read more blogs let’s you find the best info. For some reason this morning I decided to actually go to Cinderberry Stitches’s blog. Am I ever glad I did. Cinderberry has a tutorial on doing stitcheries. I sew needed that. Plus she has a few free patterns.

Friday evening I once again worked on my first block from Capricorn Quilts BOM. These little blocks are so cute and fun. Then Saturday I started the second BOM although I wasn’t finished with the first block. There is good reasoning in my starting the second block, I want to use the dark turquoise thread in the block and since I still had an ample amount of thread in the needle I wanted to use it up. This is what I accomplished on Saturday.   No that is not black in the running stitch but a very dark green.

I did find a water soluble pen while at Hancock’s the other day. Thank goodness. However, I do intend to pickup one of the pens that Cinderberry uses in her tutorial.

Happy stitching!

P.S. Can anyone suggest a good needle to use?
